The Blood of Dawnwalker has barely been out for a few weeks, but developer Rebel Wolves is already looking toward the future of its dark fantasy RPG universe.
The studio has begun recruiting a Lead Writer to help create the “next chapter in the Dawnwalker saga,” strongly establishing that work on the franchise’s follow-up is underway. The announcement came shortly after the first game surpassed one million copies sold in its opening weekend.
While many fans are already calling the project The Blood of Dawnwalker 2, Rebel Wolves has not officially revealed that as the game’s title. The studio has also not announced a release date, platforms, setting or complete story details.
Rebel Wolves Is Already Planning the Next Chapter
The first Blood of Dawnwalker was always intended to be more than a one-off project.
Before launch, Bandai Namco described the game as the first chapter of Rebel Wolves’ original Dawnwalker saga. The studio’s long-term plans were therefore established well before the RPG reached players.
Now, those plans are moving into a new stage.
Rebel Wolves Narrative Director and co-founder Jakub Szamałek announced a Lead Writer opening for someone who will work with the narrative team on the next chapter of the saga. The role involves developing stories and dialogue, reviewing narrative ideas and working with the wider writing team.
That means the next Dawnwalker project is not merely a fan theory or wishful speculation. There is direct evidence that Rebel Wolves is staffing for the saga’s continuation.
The First Game’s Success Helped Move Things Forward
The timing of the recruitment is also notable.
The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Bandai Namco described it as the first chapter of the planned saga.
Within its opening weekend, the game passed one million copies sold, according to Szamałek’s recruitment announcement and subsequent reporting.
For a new intellectual property from a newly established studio, that gives Rebel Wolves a significant foundation for expanding the universe.
The next game is still in its early planning stages, though. Hiring a Lead Writer does not tell us how far other departments have progressed or whether full production has begun across the entire project.
Will Dawnwalker 2 Leave the Medieval World?
One of the biggest questions surrounding the next game is its setting.
Rebel Wolves has already teased a much more distant future for the Dawnwalker universe. Earlier promotional material showed Coen in a modern-era setting, suggesting that the larger saga could eventually move far beyond the 14th-century world of Vale Sangora.
However, that does not necessarily mean the next game will immediately jump into the modern era.
The studio has not announced the next game’s country, city, time period or protagonist. Therefore, claims that Dawnwalker 2 will definitely take place in a modern-day setting should currently be treated as speculation.
The long-term concept is clear, but the exact route Rebel Wolves takes next remains unknown.
Could the 30-Day Time Mechanic Return?
Another major question concerns one of the first game’s defining systems.
The Blood of Dawnwalker gives players a limited period of 30 days and 30 nights to pursue their objectives. The system affects how players approach activities and forces them to make decisions about how they spend their time.
Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has now indicated that Rebel Wolves will not automatically force the same mechanic into future games. Instead, the team will consider whether a time-based structure actually fits the story being told.
That leaves the door open for the sequel to experiment with a different structure.
Choices Could Carry Into Future Games
One of the more interesting elements of the Dawnwalker saga is its focus on player choices.
Rebel Wolves has previously discussed carrying player decisions into future entries, meaning choices made in one game could potentially influence what happens later in the saga. The exact implementation and scope of that system have not been fully revealed.
This could give the eventual sequel a stronger connection to individual player playthroughs without requiring the developers to make every entry one continuous story.
The studio has also described the saga as consisting of individual stories rather than simply stretching one storyline across multiple games.
When Could Dawnwalker 2 Release?
There is currently no announced release date or release window for the next Dawnwalker game.
There is also no confirmed title, platform list, gameplay footage or formal announcement identifying the project as The Blood of Dawnwalker 2. What we do have is Rebel Wolves’ recruitment for the next chapter of the saga, which establishes that the studio is actively preparing what comes next.
For now, fans can expect the first game’s universe to continue expanding, but details about the next adventure are likely still some distance away.
The Blood of Dawnwalker 2 may not be its final name, but the Dawnwalker saga is clearly moving forward.
