After years of waiting, the Rayman Game Comeback is finally real. Ubisoft has officially brought the beloved limbless hero back into the spotlight with Rayman Legends Retold, a heavily reimagined version of the 2013 platforming adventure.
The project is more than a simple visual upgrade. Ubisoft says the new version features redesigned 3D visuals, a completely new story, fully voiced cinematics, additional areas and new gameplay content. The game is scheduled to launch on October 1, 2026.
A NEW CHAPTER FOR THE LIMBLESS HERO
Rayman Legends Retold will take players back to the colourful Glade of Dreams, where Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus and Murphy face a new threat spreading chaos across the realms.
The developers are using the original Rayman Legends as a foundation rather than simply reproducing it. The remake introduces a new narrative, fully voiced cinematic sequences and a previously unseen sixth realm.

There are also four new musical stages, new challenges and dragon-riding sections designed to expand the classic platforming formula.
That means longtime players should get something familiar while still having reasons to explore the game again.
THIS ISN’T JUST A SIMPLE REMASTER
One of the biggest changes is the presentation.
Ubisoft is rebuilding the adventure with new 3D visuals, giving the colourful world considerably more depth while maintaining the fast-paced platforming that made Rayman Legends popular.
The game will support solo play as well as up to four-player local couch co-op, making the comeback especially interesting for players who enjoyed Rayman’s multiplayer chaos.
Ubisoft is also expanding the soundtrack and introducing additional gameplay improvements, giving the project a broader scope than a conventional remaster.
COULD THIS LEAD TO A NEW 3D RAYMAN GAME?
This is where the future becomes particularly interesting.
Ubisoft has indicated that the company is interested in seeing where Rayman can go next if the current project performs well. The team has discussed the possibility of a more adventurous 3D Rayman experience, drawing inspiration from the style of classic 3D platformers.
That does not mean a new 3D Rayman game has been officially announced yet. Instead, Rayman Legends Retold appears to be an important opportunity for Ubisoft to test how much interest still exists around the character.
If the response is strong, the franchise could potentially move beyond remakes and return with an entirely new adventure.
WHAT ABOUT A RAYMAN 1 REMAKE?
Interestingly, Ubisoft has also explained why remaking the original 1995 Rayman is extremely difficult.
According to brand producer Loïc Gounon, the first game uses design principles and pacing that are very different from modern platformers. Changing those elements too much could effectively turn it into another game.
Ubisoft considers Rayman Origins to have already acted as a kind of reboot of the original formula, which is one reason the company chose a different direction for the 30th-anniversary celebration.
Instead of rebuilding Rayman 1, Ubisoft released the Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition in February 2026, preserving the original experience while adding multiple versions, bonus content, the previously unreleased SNES prototype and a documentary about the franchise’s creation.
RAYMAN’S FUTURE COULD BE MUCH BIGGER
The important takeaway is that Rayman is no longer sitting quietly in Ubisoft’s archive.
With Rayman Legends Retold arriving in October, the character is receiving a major modern presentation, new story content and renewed attention from Ubisoft.
Whether that eventually becomes a completely new Rayman Game Comeback remains to be seen. For now, Rayman Legends Retold is the confirmed next step, while a larger 3D revival remains a possibility rather than an announced project.
After such a long absence, though, one thing is already clear:
Rayman is finally back in the game.
